A total of 120 credits in medical and/or public health studies, religious studies, historical-philosophical studies, social sciences, or law, including an independent thesis worth at least 15 credits. All applicants need to verify English language proficiency equivalent to the course English 6 in the Swedish secondary school.
This course provides an in-depth understanding of gender-based violence in young people's intimate relations. It focuses on adolescence/youth as a particularly vulnerable phase of life where social, psychological and identity-forming processes can create risks as well as protective factors. The course addresses both exposure to violence and perpetration of violence in young people's intimate relations, with a focus on power, norms and young people's own experiences. It also covers social interventions aimed at young people, with a focus on evidence-based methods, professional approaches, and obstacles and opportunities in preventive and treatment work. The course aims to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and the ability to apply relevant theories on gender, sexuality, exposure to/perpetration of violence in young people's intimate relations. Additionally, the course seeks to enhance the students’ ability to independently, objectively and critically examine different contexts of gender-based violence in adolescence/youth. Examination takes place through mandatory seminars with oral presentations and group work, as well as individual written assignments. Course structure: The course will be conducted online and in English. All lectures and seminars will be held via a digital teaching platform. Participation in seminars, as well as completion of written and oral assignments, is compulsory. To participate in the course, you will need a computer with a stable internet connection and a web camera.
