The course provides a detailed picture of how different biological medicines are distributed and eliminated and how different target structures and disease states can affect their dose-concentration-effect relationship. Through lectures and workshops, the course sheds light on how the relationships affect both drug development and use, in comparison with more traditional drugs. The course focuses on protein medicines and antibodies but also covers other types of biological medicines such as peptides, oligonucleotides, vaccines and cell therapies. We also discuss how knowledge about the dose-response relationships of biological medicines in preclinical studies is used to define clinical study design.
