60 credits in science/engineering including 10 credits organic chemistry.
The course provides insight into the correlation between the structure of organic compounds and their physical properties and reactivity. It trains in discussing important mechanisms for organic chemical reactions, including catalytic mechanisms. Practical exercises include literature search, planning and execution of basic organic transformations, including risk assessment, documentation and reporting of results. The course also includes the use of spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques relevant to organic chemistry.
