120 credits in science/engineering with (1) 60 credits in chemistry or (2) 30 credits in chemistry and 30 credits in physics/biology. Participation in Biomaterials I of which 2 credits completed or participation in Materials synthesis of which 2 credits completed. In the first part of the course, there will be an overview of viscoelastic materials, which are technologically important and interesting for both chemists and material scientists. In the course, we will discuss both the characterisation and how to use materials which are both viscous and elastic. The course continues with a discussion of other properties of polymer systems, such as phase equilibria, elasticity, and conducting polymers. Another important part is adhesion: how to join different types of materials and how surfaces can be modified to enhance adhesion.
