In both cases, participation in course Continuum Mechanics in Geophysics, 5 credits, of which 1 credit was taken, and either Global Geophysics, 10 credits, or The Physics and Dynamics of the Earth, 5 credits, completed. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
This course deals with how seismic waves are generated and propagate. The course covers the wave equation in different forms, exact and approximate (numerical) modelling methods, such as beam path, as well as different concepts and phenomena, such as source parameters, amplitudes and phases, body waves and surface waves, anisotropy and the structure of the Earth.
