Topics include the fundamentals of reactor physics, such as the neutron cycle, criticality, power evolution, cooling mechanisms, and reactor safety. You will explore the dynamics of pressurised water reactors (PWR) and boiling water reactors (BWR), as well as uranium mining and waste management processes. The course also examines different reactor types, the global role of fission power, and the advancements in Generation IV reactors, including fast reactors, breeding, burning, and advanced fuel cycles. Additionally, the course addresses the radiological effects of radiation and the environmental implications of nuclear energy.
