Completed courses of 150 credits including (1) 60 credits in biology and 30 credits in chemistry or 30 credits in earth science, or (2) 90 credits in biology. In both cases including either Fundamental and Molecular Systematics 10 credits or Evolutionary Processes 15 credits and participation in Evolutionary Patterns 15 credits. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Fungi constitute one of the most species-rich groups of organisms and play a significant role in most ecosystems. Furthermore, they have a large cultural and economic significance, e.g., in food and wine production. Genetic factors and reproductive strategies have resulted in an evolutionary pattern different from that of other organisms, and in this course, we treat their evolution from the vantage point of modern research. Outline for distance course: The mandatory field course will preliminary take place on 14-20 March 2027. Transport is arranged from Uppsala and shared accommodation is included. Teachers and students communicate through Zoom. It is not possible to share content using Linux, and for MacOS X and Windows, a plug-in is required.
