75 credits in biology including 7.5 credits in floristics and faunistics. In addition, students must have taken the third-year Bachelor's course Ecology (15 credits) or Limnology (15 credits), with at least 5 credits completed.
The course focuses on factors and processes that influence biological diversity mainly in tropical ecosystems. The theoretical studies in Uppsala are coupled with a field course abroad (about three weeks) to a tropical ecosystem with high biological diversity. Threats against biodiversity and the use of biodiversity will be highlighted. The course is concluded in Uppsala after the field course. To participate in the field course you will need to pay a fee covering parts of the cost for travels, accomodation etc. For students who do not wish to participate in the field course, alternatives will be arranged.
